The Nevada Recreation and Park Society (NRPS), the state professional association for parks and leisure professionals, is a nonprofit professional organization offering membership to all individuals concerned with helping promote parks and recreation in the state of Nevada. Organized in 1955, their membership has grown to include professionals, interested citizens and students in the park and recreation field. This year’s statewide conference is entitled “Renewing Your Vows,” and will take place April 13-15, 2016 at the The D Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This event will include door prizes and raffles that Sunbuggy Fun Rentals has proudly donated a Sunbuggy ride experience to with the money raised from the raffle going towards helping to defray the cost of training and continue the efforts of promoting the many benefits of parks and leisure services in the community.  Come check it out and show your support for promoting parks and recreation in Nevada!

The Maple Creek Parent Teacher Club (PTC) is a nonprofit organization that benefits the students of Maple Creek Elementary School in Fresno, California. Their mission is to provide their schools with funds, programs, resources and services that will enrich and maximize the education of every child. This year, Maple Creek Elementary School is celebrating 20 years of providing a quality education for thousands of children in the Fresno area.    On Friday, April 1, 2016,  They will be hosting “Toasting Twenty Years“, a Parent Night Celebration & Auction located at Wolf Lakes Park. The proceeds from the fundraiser will help fund grade-level curriculum, art and technology as well as other school and classroom items that both the school site and district funds can no longer afford. The event is expected to draw 250 supporters to the picturesque Wolf lakes Park where guests will enjoy food, entertainment, and a remarkable silent and dessert auction. As a proud supporter, Sunbuggy Fun Rentals was more than happy to donate a Sunbuggy ride experience to this amazing event that will be used for their auction. Nevada Public Radio is a nonprofit organization based here in Las Vegas, Nevada, and are currently the only National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate station on the Southern Nevada region. From St. George, Utah in the north to Barstow, California in the southwest, they serve their community by acting as an independent source of information, cultural expression, and a catalyst for civic engagement in the region.

From February 11-20, 2016, Nevada Public Radio will be holding their Winter Online Auction were the proceeds go towards continuing to serve their community with the same level of excellence as they have for the past 35 years. Sunbuggy Fun Rentals was happy to donate a Sunbuggy ride experience to the auction and highly encourage everyone to participate in the auction too!

The March of Dimes Nevada Chapter’s annual event honors Southern Nevada nurses.  Patients, friends, co-workers and other health professionals are encouraged to nominate nurses in one of 24 categories plus the category of “Distinguished Nurse of the Year”.  Three non-nursing individuals are recognized for their support of nursing through one of three “Nurse’s Choice” categories.

The evening will begin with cocktails and a silent auction at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7:15 pm, and the awards program at 8:00 pm where winners in each category are recognized before all those attending the event.

Dating back to the polio era, nurses have played critical role in advancing the mission of the March of Dimes. 40,000 nurses volunteered for the Salk polio vaccine field trials in 1954, the largest medical investigation of its kind ever conducted.

Today, nurses serve as volunteers, fundraisers and advisors to the March of Dimes. Nurses are critical to its mission of improving the health of babies- and are key in comforting families.

From the very youngest of patients in newborn intensive care units to the elderly in hospice, nurses protect our health, work to prevent injury, alleviate suffering and advocate for our care. Nurse of the Year Awards are a way to say thank you and honor selflessness, dedication and passion for the profession of nursing.

Corporate sponsors support the nurses and provide funds to further the mission of the March of Dimes.  This is the largest and oldest event of its kind in the nation.

Foundation for Recovery promotes the positive impact of addiction recovery in the community and the lives of individuals and families affected by the disease of addiction. Their programs, services and partnerships open pathways to recovery by removing social barriers and creating opportunities for those seeking recovery.

Their vision is that every layer of society is aware that addiction is a treatable disease, and that individual and family recovery is a sought-after means for achieving a balanced and healthy life. Foundation for Recovery will prepare and organize current and future educators, healthcare professionals, policy makers and the general public to see this vision become a reality. They provide FREE nonclinical, peer activities that engage, educate, and support individuals toward successfully address life changes during recovery: which include Peer groups, Recovery coaching, GED tutoring, Employment assistance, self-help library and wellness resources.

At Olive Crest, they are continually working to provide programs and opportunities for children who have suffered from abuse and neglect with new possibilities to experience happy, healthy childhoods that are free from harm. They are dedicated to preventing child abuse, treating and educating at-risk children, and preserving the family, one life at a time.

In April of 2016, Olive Crest will hold its annual “Be the change…an evening of Hope. ” This special event features entertainment, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, along with the highly anticipated silent and live auctions, which will give attendees a chance to bid on fabulous items while helping to raise funds in support of Olive Crest.

James “Chubbs” McKittrick was an active and die-hard member of Freaks of Nature. He was also a true friend and brother to many people throughout the minitruck community. Chubbs often reminded us of what it means to be part of the automotive community just by being himself. At the drop of a hat he would rush to help anyone in need. To him it didn’t matter what club a person was in, it only mattered that they were his friend or someone who needed help. Chubbs passed unexpectedly in 2010 at the young age of 32, leaving behind his mother and sisters and also his three daughters. Bethany (his oldest daughter) is now 16 years old and got her first job this year. Jamie (his second daughter) is now 6 year old and starts 1st grade this year. Kayla (his youngest) is now 4 years old and starts Kindergarten next year. He loved and adored his girls and they loved and adored him. I am sure he looks over his daughters every day, as any father would, brimming with pride!

Chubbs was born in Davenport, Iowa and moved to Las Vegas around the age of 10. Once he was old enough to drive, he found his way into the “car scene.” The first vehicle he had was a 1971 Datsun 521 that he got a few years later. It sat in storage until he finally was able to start building. For a while he hung around Underground and eventually he found his home in Freaks of Nature. Chubbs could be found at almost every show, run, or party. He loved to support the scene and everything it stands for, as well as the people involved. Most of his friends in the scene he called family. Some family he had known for years and some he had only met recently, whether in person, on Street Source, or on Facebook. No matter the length of time we knew him he made an impact on us all with his good nature, warm smile, and kind heart.

This year Freaks of Nature Las Vegas is once again proud to put on A DAY TO REMEMBER, the James “Chubbs” McKittrick Memorial Car Show. He was a great member of the car/truck community and we miss him everyday! It will be out at Buffalo Bills Casino at Primm, NV (Stateline). The show will be on Saturday. Roll-in will be from 8-10 am. Cost is $30 at the gate or $20 to pre-reg.

The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF), is a local non-profit organization providing services in Southern Nevada since 1993. The NCCF’s goal is to improve the quality of life for critically ill children and their families living in our community. When a child is diagnosed with cancer or other life threatening illness…they can look to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation for support, hope, and courage.

The MISSION of the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation is to provide social, emotional, educational, and psychological support services and programs to families of ALL children diagnosed with life threatening or critical illnesses such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, sickle cell, hemophilia, renal disorders, and immunologic diseases and provide healing arts and wellness programs to adults touched by cancer and to chronically ill children and their caregivers.

NCCF supports those who fight a daily battle against disease, therefore, NCCF added healing arts and wellness services for critically ill children and their caregivers as well as hosting a second location (and new program) servicing adults touched by cancer. They NOW offer over 40 programs and services at no cost to our participants at two locations in Southern Nevada.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide education, employment and training for people with disabilities and other barriers to employment, and to maximize the quality of life for each individual served.

Goodwill is an innovative and sustainable social enterprise that turns donations of gently used goods into new jobs and new careers for the members of our local community. We provide employment, job training and other community-based programs for people with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and clients facing other challenges to finding employment.

Teen Challenge is a non-profit residential recovery program that has been making an impact in our community for over 40+ years. This 12-18 month program has been helping men, women, teens, children and families win the battle over addiction. With the highest success rate in the nation, this is a place where lives are restored and made whole again.

Each year, an Annual Benefit & Silent Auction is held to raise funds for the continuing needs of their Alum Rock & Children’s Center and Asbury Family Center. The event will be held on Monday, September 21st, 2015 @ 6:00pm at Bethal Church of San Jose, CA. With SunBuggy’s help, they are able to keep the doors open for those who are struggling with life-controlling problems and help them become productive citizens of the community, when reached out to us at SunBuggy, we were more than happy to donate one of our amazing Dune Buggy rides to be entered into the Silent Auction.
